First things first

Your template is purchased. Now we get it into your hands.

Before you open the site and immediately start changing twelve things at once, here is the order I’d follow.

01

Watch for your Squarespace invite.

We’ll prepare your copy of Stone & Ink and send an invitation to the email address you used at checkout within 72 business hours. The invitation comes directly from Squarespace, so check spam, promotions, or junk if it does not show up in your main inbox.

The email you used at checkout needs to be connected to the Squarespace account where you want the site to live.

02

Accept the invitation.

Open the Squarespace email, accept the invitation, and sign into your Squarespace account. If you do not have an account yet, create one using the same email address you used at checkout.

Once the invitation is accepted, you should be able to see the site inside your Squarespace account as a collaborator.

03

Once you’re in, email us.

As soon as you have accepted the invitation and can see the website in your Squarespace account, send us a quick email at hello@thepassivepractice.com. That lets us know you are officially in and ready for the ownership transfer.

You do not need to start editing first. Just let us know as soon as you have successfully accepted the invitation, and we’ll take it from there.

04

We transfer the site. Then you make it yours.

Once ownership has been transferred, the site is yours. You can rename it, update the copy, replace the photos, adjust the colors, connect your domain, choose your Squarespace billing plan, and change as much or as little of the original design as you want.

Start with the website itself. Get your words, photos, services, and practice details in place first. SEO can come after the site actually sounds like you.

Before you start editing

Put these in one folder.

Future you will be very pleased that current you did this first. Having the basics together means you can actually work through the site without stopping every nine minutes to hunt for a hex code.

01

Your logo files

Include a transparent-background version if you have one.

02

Your brand colors

Save the hex codes somewhere easy to copy and paste.

03

Your photos

Gather your headshots, office photos, lifestyle images, and anything else you know you want to use on the site.

04

Your website copy

Even a rough draft is easier to work with than writing inside tiny Squarespace text boxes as you go.

05

Your domain login

If you already own the domain you plan to connect, make sure you know where it is registered and how to log in.

✶ Save these somewhere you can find them again ✶
Your template resources

You do not need to use all of these today.

You probably shouldn’t. Work through them as you reach that part of your setup.

Squarespace Build Guide

Your practical walkthrough for working inside the template without turning “I’ll just change this one thing” into a four-hour Squarespace side quest.

  • Edit existing sections
  • Swap photos
  • Update fonts and colors
  • Duplicate or add pages
  • Connect the domain you already own
02
The design details

Editable Website Graphics

Your template already has its own little visual world. These are the editable flowers, botanical details, icons, and patterns that help you keep that look going as you customize the site or add something new later.

  • Recolor the graphics to match your brand palette
  • Use the floral and botanical elements throughout your website
  • Customize the coordinating specialty icons
  • Use the seamless pattern for backgrounds, sections, or other brand pieces
03
Canva without the scavenger hunt

Canva Basics Guide

If Canva is still a little “where did that button go,” use this one. You do not need to become a graphic designer to customize the pieces that came with your template.

Keep this nearby while you edit your graphics the first few times, make the changes you actually need, and get back out.

04
Do this last

Private Practice SEO Playbook

SEO gets significantly easier when Google has a finished website to understand. Once your pages, services, copy, photos, and basic site details are in place, open the Playbook and start working through the search foundations.

Do not try to do the whole thing in one sitting. Skim it once, then choose the next useful thing to fix.

One important note

You are allowed to make the template yours.

Before you edit or delete a section you may want again later, save the original section to your Squarespace Saved Sections library.

That gives you a clean copy of the original layout and copy to drop back into the site if you change your mind, something goes sideways, or you realize three hours later that the first version was actually fine. 😂

How to Save & Reuse Sections

A template gives you the structure. You still get to decide what belongs inside it. Delete sections you do not need. Rearrange the ones you do. Change the colors. Rewrite the headlines. Replace the photos. Make the site feel like the actual practice you’re building.

You are not going to “ruin the template” by making it yours. You also do not need to redesign the entire thing to prove that it is yours.

The whole point was to give you a much better place to start.

Something not behaving?

If the tech gets weird, send us what you’re seeing.

If your Squarespace invitation has not arrived after 72 business hours, or you run into a technical issue while setting up your template, email us.

Include the email address you used at checkout, the template you purchased, and a quick description or screenshot of what’s happening.

That gives us enough information to find your transfer without starting with twelve rounds of “what email did you use?”
